Q: Why does my 2002 Chevy Suburban sound like a diesel?
Just bought my 2002 suburban. Oil was old and low so I just changed it. It has 70,000 miles and I put a high mileage synthetic blend in it. When you start it up it sounds like a diesel. Only for the first couple minutes of driving then it quiets down.
Any ideas?
Mine is the LT 8.1 ltr V8...
A: NORMAL CONDITION.
Here's the GM bulletin for this concern,#01-06-01-028A: Info - Engine Knock on Cold start up.
The knock noise is most often noticed during initial start-up
This noise may be caused by an interaction between carbon that has formed on the piston, the piston motion and the cylinder wall. GM Powertrain Engineering, and an analysis of engines with this condition, has confirmed that the noise is not detrimental to the performance, reliability or durability of the engine.
NO REPAIRS ARE TO BE MADE TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION.
Q: What is a normal oil pressure level for a 2002 Chevy Suburban?
My check engine oil light came on this week and when it did I noticed since then my pressure level drops to 40 when stopped and goes back up to 60 when driving. I had the oil changed, warning light is off but am still noticing the drop and rise with each start and stop. Is this normal (have I just never noticed the change before) or is it time to bring it to a mechanic? I have only ever noticed the gauge to always be in the 60 range.
A: your suburbans oil pressure is just fine that is with in the manufactures specs. as for the light comming on it was probb. the change oil soon light gm has what they call an oil life monitoring system and the vehicle will tell u when to change the oil just chek the owners manual they have alot of info in there
Q: where are the intake air filters on a 2002 Chevy Suburban?
When I bought all of the filter for my oil change. The parts warehouse gave me 2 small thin filters to change & told me they were for the air conditioner intake filter. I have looked at the manual and I'm not seeing exactly where they go. How do I reset the change oil light?
A: The two thin filters are the cabin air filter. It is inside the truck under the dash over on the passengers side. You need to remove the plastic cover that goes under the dash. and then there is a strap like plastic piece that you take the screw out and remove to take out the filter. Its in 2 pieces. Look i your manual under cabin air filter and should show a picture of the dash where it is. .......As to the oil change light turn the key on but do not start, the change oil light will light and then depress the gas pedal down 3 times within 5 seconds and the the light will flash and then reset itself.................UJN
Q: How do you take the 3rd row out of a 2002 Chevy Suburban?
I no longer have the owners manual and I can't do it for the life of me! Someone help a girl out.
A: pull on the seat latch located under the rear of the seat. you may have to push on the rear of the seatback forward to get it out of the tracks
do this from the rear of the seat
Q: Can anyone tell me please where I can buy an ABS Assembly for a 2002 Chevy Suburban online? Thanks?
I guess my ABS pump went out and it all comes with the EBCM module, etc...My mechanic cant find it anywhere. Any good online discount auto parts? Thanks.
A: For a truck that new I would call your local chevy parts dept. They should be able to help you with this part.Best of luck.
Q: what can i expect to pay to fix a coolant leak in a 2002 chevy suburban...and should I go to the dealer or a?
A: The dealer is going to kill you, just for look they charge you
$ 65, look you, maybe is a stupid think and you can fix , (could be a clam that need tie o a hose that need change). Otherwise talk with a friend o relative, maybe their have own mechanic and could be less spence. Good luck.
Q: what kind of hedders should i buy for my chevy suburban 2002?
it has the 5.3, i was looking around but i never tried any and i saw some good priced ones like flowtech and headman hedders
A: None.
You want headers, not hedders.
Secondly, if you simply buy headers, you will see practically no gain in power in the slightest, and may actually decrease the performance of your vehicle.
Q: what could be causing a high pitch whinning sound and popping from 2002 chevy suburban?
A: Maybe the alternator or check the belt???
Q: 2002 Chevy Suburban. Code PO420. What does this mean?
I know that PO420 means that something is wrong with the catalitic converter, but the guy at AutoZone said it was the only code that came up. Does this mean that it's the converter or the sensor behind the converter?
It has 120000 miles.
A: most of the time its the sensor that cause this,id try replacing the sensor on it,that usually fixes that code, but you have to get the code cleared off with a scanner ,and then re-scan it to make sure it doesn't come up again, good luck with it.
Q: Which spark plugs would be good for my chevy suburban 2002?
i hear ac delco but dont know that good and price doesnt matter
A: The brand actually does not make much difference (contrary to the advertising).
The platinum plugs (and those new HARD metal tips) last about 100K miles (vs. about 30K miles for cooper tips). So it fights bad MPG and bad emission much longer. They are worth the extra cost.
Good Luck...
Q: what poweradders can i put to get more power out of a chevy suburban 2002?
i know its a suv but i like to pass other cars on the highway
A: A whipple supercharger would have you passing people in no time. Even basic bolt-ons will make enough power to leave people in the dust. You probably have the 5.3L which is a great motor to start off with. Add headers/exhaust, cold air intake, and a custom tune(handheld tuners are a thing of the past). Check out LS1truck.com and you'll see the "100hp on a budget" on the first page. Good luck.
Q: I just bought a 2002 Chevy Suburban & when I bought it..?
They replaced the battery, so now the radio is locked up & I called a Chevy dealer up & they wouldn't give me the code. Any chance of getting it unlocked or will I have to buy a new radio? I have the 1st two 3-digit series of #'s I need & that's it...
A: It can be unlocked by an authorized dealer.
But first look in the glove box. Normally when the radio is installed the worker takes the sticky with the code number off the radio and sticks it inside the glove box on the wall somewhere. So look in there for just a sticky with numbers on it.
Otherwise a dealer will have to remove the radio and reset it on a workbench... They don't like doing it because it is a PIA and hard to charge a lot of money for.
Good Luck
Q: 2002 chevy suburban rear tire promblems?
what is wrong with my rear tires when i stop to turn Right in a street the rear right tire stars to spin like crazy or if i turn left the rear left starts to spin like crazy also...what is the problem
A: Is the Burb a 4WD? If it is, place the transfer case in 2WD!
If it is a 2WD, or it is indeed in 2WD and the front axle is not engaged, the look in your glove box for option code 'G80'. If you find G80, then you have the Gov-Lok differential. The G80 is an automatic LOCKER, NOT a limited slip unit. The unit could have become stuck locked, and will require the removal of the differential to resolve the issue.
No G80, then you have a normal open diff, but your still gonna have to open up that axle to see and fix the problem. And an axle rebuild is better than a junk-yard unit (I wouldn't install a junk-yard unit without a rebuild anyway). Besides, a rebuild is a few hundred bucks, not over a grand like the other post says (and I say rebuild as all new bearings, seals, and new R&P). Your spiders may be trashed, never know till it is opened up.
Q: what is the realistic towing capcity for a 2002 chevy suburban 4x4 with the tow/haul package?
A: Hi,
Not exactly sure, to be honest, but having used a very similar vehicle across dodgy terrain in the Mid-East, I found it would reasonaby tug about 2000kg, 2 tonnes metric, or 2ish tons Imperial weight, without struggling too badly.
Given good tyres, a following breeze, and a sound towball arrangement. Oh, and plenty right foot on the pedal from time to time.
Managed to get the arrangement up to around 85mph on tarmac, but it started to weave around a bit. Don't recommend it.
So, as you ask, I would stick to an all-up towing weight of, say,
1 ton to be on the safe side of things.
Don't blame me if it goes wobbly though. And best of luck.
Yours, Bob the Boat
Q: Will it hurt my 2002 Chevy suburban to put bigger tires on it (265 75 16 instead of 265 70 16)?
A: you are getting a few wrong answers here, the first number is the width of the tire in mm, so a 265/75 16 and a 265/70 16 are the same in width, the second number is the aspect ratio of height to width, so a 75 series is 75% of the width in height, so a 75 is 5% of 265 taller in sidewall compared to a 70. yes this will change your speedo readings and also your trans shift points, a dealer can program some sizes into the vehicles computer modules so the speedo is accurate, contact your dealer first to see if this size change is available to be programmed
