Q: Chevy Tahoe?
I am pondering buying a 2008 Chevy Tahoe LS with 2WD. I do not tow, or go off road ever. I do not stay near any grades or inclines. I would be just basically driving it to and from work in a urban setting and periodically on the interstates from state to state. I live in Chicago and during the winter the is about 6 inches of 6 snowfall every two weeks give or take. Rain is periodic and we are generally not in droughout. Is a 4WD nessecary and what are the pros and cons.?

A: So basically you are saying you need a six passenger gas guzzler to carry you around. Why? If you get snow get something smaller with AWD.

Q: What type of audio does a 2003 chevy tahoe play?
I have a 2003 chevy tahoe and it will not play mp3 format. Should it, and was there something wrong with the disk. If not what type of format does it play.

A: chances are the cd player is a normal cd player, if the unit-face doesn't have "mp3" painted on it somewhere, it ain't going to play mp3 discs. find your albums in flac format, convert to wav... burn to cd-audio format for best quality

Q: 1999 chevy tahoe will not start but will turn over and has yellow spark at the plug?
1999 chevy tahoe will not start but will turn over and has yellow spark at the plug

A: It should be a crisp blue spark.

Q: What happens when a 2003 chevy tahoe runs out of gas and will not start when more gas is added?
My wife ran our 2003 chevy tahoe out of gas. I have added more gas to the vehicle, but it will not start. What could be the problem?

A: Over time sediment and impurities settle and collect at the bottom of a fuel tank. When your wife ran the vehicle out of gas, this was sucked up into your fuel system. Your Tahoe has an in tank filter as well as a fuel filter. Check the fuel filter under the hood. Also, as new as your vehicle is, it's unlikely there would be enough deposits to cause this, so try cranking it over a few more times. Good luck.

Q: How do you reset the a/c on a 2004 chevy tahoe after resetting the computer?
I recently reset the computer on my 2004 chevy tahoe because the check tire pressure warning would not go away. I reset the computer by unplugging the positive cable from the battery. When I turned on the truck again the a/c will only blow out HOT air.. What do I need to do? any info. would be apprecieated... Thanks!

A: When you disconnected the battery, the HVAC control module lost its memory. Now the temperature actuators are out of calibration. Before heading to the dealership, try this: Turn ignition to run, engine off. Turn off the courtesy lamps and the headlights. Do not touch the HVAC controls. Let the hvac module attempt a recalibration. Do not press any buttons or turn the ignition off. Let the vehicle sit that way for about three minutes. If you cannot handle the suspense, go surf the Net for a bit. After a few minutes, w/out pressing any buttons, start your engine. Let the hvac system sit like that for a few minutes. After 5-10 minutes of run time, turn the ignition off, pull key, shut doors, and let it sit for about 15 minutes. I know it sounds silly, but w/out the Tech 2 scan tool handy, the actuator motor recalibration procedure cannot be performed. This has worked for me when all else fails on these fickle systems. I am assuming you have the automatic system? Hope this helps.

Q: How do I remove the AC blower from a 96 Chevy Tahoe?
I have a 96 Chevy Tahoe and it's making a rattle sound, it sounds like something is blocked in the AC blower/round box and stopped blowing cold air. How can I remove it to fix it?

A: Locate the blower motor on the AC case under the hood and disconnect the power connection to the blower motor.....then it should have a series of about 7 hex head screws you need to remove in order to remove the blower motor. Upon re-installing be sure to use strip caulk around the outer flange of the blower motor so that you don't have any air or water leaks. Good luck!

Q: What is the size of the sub woofer in a 2002 Chevy Tahoe?
I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe, does NOT have the bose system. The rear sub blew and I need to replace it. Crutchfield and Best buy do not know the size. I have pulled it out and measured it. From speaker side to side it's 7 inches, and from drill hole to drill hole (straight across) it's 8.5 inches. Any help is appreciated.

A: The 2002 Tahoe uses an 8" subwoofer. Some slight modification may be required to replace it with aftermarket. (ie: the mounting holes may not line up exactly or the factory grill may need modified to mount over the new sub without interference.)

Q: How do I find out about the warranty I have on my 04 Chevy Tahoe?
My husband and I purchased and 04 Chevy Tahoe back in October of 2006. We aslo purchased an extended warranty with it to cover anything that breaks. Well we are looking to trade it in for a different vehicle and I was thinking about canceling the warranty on the SUV before we trade it in so we can get that money back, we financed it through Americredit (don't ask me why b/c my husband has excellent credit and Americredit is a secondary lender, but anyways...) How do I go about cancelling the extended warranty? Approximatly how long does it take to recieve the check in the mail?

A: You can get a refund on most warranties, however it will be pro-rated and won't be much. If you got the warranty at the dealership, go and see the Finance Manager and tell him you want to cancel your warranty. It will take a few weeks to receive the funds, so you'll have to be patient. I hope this helps and you can email if you have questions.

Q: How much better gas mileage does the Nissan Xterra 4x4 get than the Chevy Tahoe 4x4?
I am thinking of down grading to a Nissan Xterra 4x4 from my Chevy Tahoe 4x4. I am wondering how much better gas mileage the Xterra will get compared to the Tahoe? Any help would be great! Thanks!

A: 17 to 21 highway and much less around town 13 to 15 mpg so your really not saving very much fuel Boxy trucks just dont flow thru the air very well. Added weight of 4x4 and there you have it. You did not state if it was a 3.3 Liter 169hp. Engine or a 2005 and newer 4.0 liter motor 265hp the new motor is more powerful and just about the same MPG. By the way 2005 and newer Xterria's earned Motor Trend 4X4 of the year 2005 and 2006 they are real mountain goats. Only a bit thirsty.

Q: What type of oil/lubricant should be used for the transfer case on a Chevy Tahoe?
Just changed out the transfer case on my 1999 Chevy Tahoe and I need to know what type of oil or lubricant it should be filled with? Thanks!

A: I would use the OEM oil or lubricant that Chevy uses. The Parts Department in a Chevy Dealership should be able to tell you what they use and supply the item! Hope this helps.

Q: How do you change a oxygen sensor in a 99 chevy tahoe?
I have a 99 chevy Tahoe and the sensors are bad I need to change them asap My daughter is coming home tomarrow and I am going to need the truck to pick her up 2 1/2 hours from home please help...

A: They just unplug and unscrew, there may be up to four sensors though so make sure to change the right one(s). There is a small tab you push in to unlock the electric connector and they should slide apart. You may need an 02 sensor socket ava at autozone as a lonatool if you cant get a 7/8" wrench on them.

Q: How can I bypass the factory amplifier on a 99 Chevy Tahoe?
We are installing a Stereo in a 99 Chevy Tahoe and want to bypass the factory amplifier to the speakers. What is a good way to go about doing this?

A: I will usually run NEW speaker wires from the deck to the speakers in an application such as this. That way, even though I've may have removed the factory amp and deck, the wiring is still in place allowing me to easily replace them when the owner chooses to sell the vehicle but wants to keep the after market gear. It also prevents the vehicle from looking tampered with to the new buyer.

Q: What wrong with my 1995 chevy tahoe truck?
I have an 1995 chevy Tahoe 350 with 160,000 miles on it, just recently purchased and drove across country with it, I did alot of maint to it before leaving. Now that I am back home now the truck has broke down. Now heres the thing, I can start the truck and she idles kinda rough but when I apply the brakes the engine siezes and stalls. If I drive the truck without applying the brakes the engine losses power. So I need to narrow the problem down so I do not get creamed at the repair shop.

A: It's a Chevy.

Q: Why would my power steering go out on my 2002 chevy Tahoe when I press on my brake pedal hard?
I have a 2002 chevy tahoe, that I replaced the power steering pump on about one month ago. At first all was OK, but now, when I have to press the brake hard, I loose my power steering, the wheel kinda locks up. This does not happen all the time, but it is getting worse. When it first happened, I checked the fluid level, and it needed more, but now it is not losing any.

A: Sounds like you got a defective pump...you should only buy GM parts
