Q: How do you release the steering wheel airbag on a 1999 Chevy Trailblazer?
Manual says that there are clips behind the steering wheel that you have to trip with a screwdriver, but I can't find them. Trying to check my horn contacts in the wheel!

A: Find a GM mechanic that will give free advice. You don't want to trigger that airbag by accident!

Q: 1999 Chevy Trailblazer that starts hard when cold, code shows bad fuel pressure sensor & purge valve solenoid?
When attempting to start cold, it doesnt seem like it is getting fuel. However, each subsequent time I attempt to start it, it will start to catch. On really cold days, it can take as many as 20 turns of the key to get the truck started. Is this consistent with a bad fuel pressure sensor or a purge valve solenoid?

A: You have a bad fuel pump. Common on the GM's. A hard start cold confirms it. A new pump and sending unit assembly will take care of the other code as well. As far as the purge valve, it is only emissions related and does not effect the running or starting of the vehicle. Word of advice though, don't buy a parts house pump, it wont last, buy GM or AcDelco

Q: My 1999 Chevy Trailblazer only blows out cool air. What's wrong?
I noticed in the last few months that even when my thermostate is set to the highest (80 degrees) my trailblazer only blows out cool air. The airconditioning button isn't selected and the air still doesn't heat up even after driving the car for 30+ miles. I'm hoping it's an easy fix!

A: First, check your coolant level. Next check the coolant is heating up, (thermostat?) Next check your heater system.

Q: Glove box stuck on 1999 Chevy Trailblazer?
Something is jammed inside my glovebox and I cannot get it open. I've tried running a thin blade on the top & sides but it hasn't worked. Any suggestions? The box won't open at all, the handle was pulled out and now it wont go back in and the box won't budge

A: Will it open a little? If it does then the latch is unlocking and the papers or owners manual are getting stuck on the frame side of the latch. It is located in the center of the box, directly behind the latch. It sticks down about an inch. You will have to reach inside and push the papers down inside the box to let them clear the frame side of the latch. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sounds like the latch itself is broken. You should take it in to a garage to fix this.

Q: How can I unloc '99 trailblazer car radio?
Can anyone help me with this?? I had to change the battery on my 1999 Chevy -Trailblazer, but when I went to turn on the radio it was locked. I had to enter a code wich I already have, I just want some one to show me how to enter it steps by steps. Any help? :( Thanks very much, La MaraviLLa

A: normally you just turn the radio on and then using the preset buttons type in the code.

Q: Is my reliable 1999 Chevy Blazer a fluke?
I owned a 1999 Chevy Blazer S-10 for 6 years now and I'm 2nd owner with now 79,600 miles on it. It is an LT and has all the options except a sunroof. I still enjoy driving it and it has been the most reliable vehicle I am ever owned and It is paid for. I have only had 2-3 things go wrong with this truck. Replaced battery with new Diehard in it back in winter '03. The oil cooler lines leaked and had to be replaced at around 65,000 and the Water pump was just replaced at 79,200 miles. I have never had to replace brakes ( I will soon as I am at 5%) and I just put new tires on it summer of 2007. It still looks beautifully brand new. So, did I happen to just get an exceptional copy? Many people claim the S-10 Blazer as not a reliable vehicle. Should I expect for the reliablity to start to decline rapidly after 100,000 miles? I've been thinking of trading it in for a New Trailblazer, but I'm nervous from all the bad reviews. Knowledgeable and reasonable answers please.

A: all i have is my own experience. my grandfather bought a 1997 s-10, before it was 3 years old it burnt up 3 fuel pumps and the whole drivers side front suspension fell out of it. when it was five years old the other side fell out and since burnt two more fuel pumps (which are about 300 bux a pop). all my grandfather did was drive the dogs around and go to the grocery store in it. after he past away i inherited it, after just six months it blew another fuel pump, i got a little pissed and donated it to charity. but like all other cars there is a few bad apples in the bunch, either your lucky or not.
