Q: What size speakers are in a 1997 Chevy Venture?
The engine went out in my Venture, (surprise). Anyway, I want to know if the speakers in there will fit in my 90 Cadillac Deville. I know the back speakers in the Cadillac are 6X9's.
A: 1997 Chevrolet Venture; front - 6.5" rear - 6.5"
You can get OEM-type replacements at Wal-Mart for about $5-10 each.
Hope this helped!
Q: How do I add refridgerant to my 1997 Chevy Venture?
The problem I'm having is I can't see where the low pressure port is. Pics or diagrams would be helpful.
A: In most states you have to be certified to do any type of refridgerant application.Probably would be best to take it to a Chevy dealer!
Q: I am looking for information on my car 1997 Chevy Venture. About alternators and batteries?
Replaced an alternator cause the old one went bad. Now I am having a problem with the battery going dead and having to charging it evertime I use the car, What do I do? Do repaced the battery with a new one or do I let the battery charge to it full capacity?
A: Have a auto tech do a carbon load test on the battery to see if it is bad. The battery is probaly weak or no good from having a bad alternator that wasn't putting out no amps or volts. The battery could be a original battery that came with the vehicle when it was new and is just getting tired with time. The real kicker was when the alternator went bad ,the vehicle put more of a strain on the battery could handle because of the age of the original battery. Batteries are good for about 5 years, then you should think about replacing them.
Q: does anyone have a vacuum routing diagram for a 1997 chevy venture van?

Q: 1997 Chevy Venture/Pontiac Transport Van's Instrument Panel and Radio lights go off at night?
Chevy Venture Van's Instrument Panel and Radio lights go off at night after 30 minutes driving (or when the head lights are purposely switched-on during daytime)
Hello, Folks,
My 1997 Chevy Venture Van's Instrument Panel lights, including the time/radio display go dark at night although all electrical: headlights, turn lights, radio work well.
That means AT NIGHT, I cannot read my speed, temperature, and fuel meters, neither time/radio station display.
This problem only occurs after 30 minutes driving at night (or when the headlights are purposely switched-on during daytime). The output voltage of the “headlamp & Instrument Panel (I/P) Lamp Dimmer Switch” becomes 0 from its normal value of 12v.
I REPLACED THE HEADLAMP & I/P DIMMER SWITCH with one that I bought from eBay (probably coming from a junkyard). The problem persists, and exactly the same.
What is my next step? Is that possible the replacing switch is again a bad one?
Again, all other electrical lights - fr
A: Sounds like a bad ground wire somewhere, either corroded of loose.
Q: 1997 Chevy Venture Power sliding door?
I recently just bought a 97 Venture off a lot and the automatic power sliding door on the passenger side doesnt work. Not with the key remote or the inside buttons. Any idea's? could this just be a blown fuse or something more in depth.....
A: It could be an actuator, a cable, the motor, or a jammed bracket. There is an update kit available to fix it, or you can take it apart and check power to the motor and actuator, and see if the motor is seized up. You can check the fuse panel inside the passenger side of the dashboard, and grab your owners manual. The power door doesn't use a fuse, but rather a module. The modules for the high speed fan, power door locks and windows, high beam headlights, and AC are on the left side of the fuse panel. There are 5 or 6 depending on your model. You can take one of those modules and replace it with one that you know works. For example, take the power window module if it works and switch it with the sliding door module. If the power windows still work and the sliding door does not, the module is good. You will have to grab your owners manual for the labeling and see which module is which. You will also have to open the power distribution box near the battery, if the owners manual shows the circuit for the sliding door also runs with another circuit, like for the rear power vent windows, for example. See what all is on the same circuit, and if the other stuff works, that eliminates that module as well. This will isolate it to the overhead control panel switch, or to the sliding door motor assembly. Good luck. I went through the same thing with my Pontiac Montana.
Q: 1997 chevy venture over heating?
i have a 1997 chevy venture van .when i got it it had over heating problems so we took the motor out of are 97 venture well now it over heats and we have tried everything we can think of. we put a new water pump on it ,flushed it, took the radiator out of the other van, took out the thermostat.. it will run good for about 40 or 50 miles and then it over heats again,, when you open the bleeder all that comes out is steam, we did a pressure check and it only losses 2 pounds in a hour..if you know what it might be please let me know..thanks
fans work fine , it is 50/50. exhaust is fine , we put the hoses off the other van on it.
no the oil looks good, and the coolent looks good .the problem is after we bleed it out some how air is getting into the coolent system
we did a blook test and like i said it only lost 2 pounds in a hour..and the hoses are find we changed them to make sure it wasnt them..
A: I'm gonna guess that it probably has the 3100 or 3400 in it. They are notorious for blown head gaskets. Just did a customers van last weak with same problem and the back head gasket was blown. Good Luck.

Q: how to replace headlight assembly on 1997 chevy venture?
A: ok you have to open the hood. There will be two to 4 screws under the hood right about the light. Take them out. Pull the light forward just a little bit and it will have to slide towards the oppsite side of the vehicle. The blinker and head light is all in one. They come out together. WHen you get it out unplug it and it should finish coming out. Go in reverse putting back in. Becareful the plastic tabs that hold it in place break really easy.
Q: 1997 Chevy Venture/Pontiac Transport Van's Instrument Panel and Radio lights go off?
My Chevy Venture Van's Instrument Panel and Radio lights go off when the head lights are forced switched-on during daytime or at night - after 10-30 minutes driving. But all headlights, turn lights, radio work well.
That means AT NIGHT, I cannot read my speed, temperature, and fuel meters, neither time/radio station display.
When this problem occurs the adjustble output voltage of the “headlamp & Instrument Panel (I/P) Lamp Dimmer Switch” becomes 0 from its normal value of 12v even though I turn it to light-on.
I REPLACED THE HEADLAMP & I/P DIMMER SWITCH with one that I bought from eBay (probably coming from a junkyard). The problem persists, and exactly the same.
What is my next step?
Since the output voltage becomes 0, it is unlikely a bad ground wire. Because it occurs during both night and daytime (when forced to light), it dosn't like DRL problem.
Thanks in advance.
George
A: Replace neg ground wire check on positive side to see if its is full of that green acid might have to change both have alternator check to see how much put out battery might not be holding a good charge
Q: I wanted to ship my used 1997 chevy venture, do you know the average weight by pound of this type of van?
A: All Data states the 1997 chevy venture has a curb weight of 3671 lbs.Hope this info helps Best of luck.
Q: what is the weight of a 1997 Chevy Venture?
A: Curb weight is 3699. Plus what ever else you put in the van.
Q: I have a 1997 chevy venture, it was fine, then...?
When I started it, the service engine soon light started blinking, and it started running like crap. Where do I start, is this going to cost me alot?
A: Any time you have a flashing SERVICE ENGINE SOON or CHECK ENGINE light on, you have a cylinder misfire. The cause can be a bad wire, spark plug or injector. A cheap and easy thing to do is take the spark plug wires off one at a time WITH VEHICLE OFF and see if there is corrosion on the coil tower. If there is no corrosion, reinstall the plug wire and go to the next one. Do it one at a time so that you do not cross the wires. If you find a corroded coil tower, use a wire brush to clean the corrosion off and reinstall the wire. Start the vehicle and see if it works better. If not, you can go have the computer scanned to see which cylinder is misfiring. Further testing will be needed after that. Autozone can tell you which cylinder is misfiring, but they can't tell why without checking further into the problem.
Q: 1997 Chevy Venture? Multiple Question ASAP!?
911!!!!
I have a rattle/ clunking noise in the front end but there's NO effects on the brakes or steering. Really loud / noticable when road is bumpy or under 30 mph. should I Drive it?
and what should I look for and how?
This #*%@ Van has been a money pit and DIY is only option.
It really wants a new owner I think!
History: New Head / Gasket 1st cylider mis fire / New Tranny / Heater Hose (the hardest 1 to replace) Brk. Cylinder / H2o pump............past 11 mo. /OD 150.000.00 +mile
Also # 2= sensor1 is out! (is it a 1 connection wire or 4? cant find what i need to replace it Ebay parts claims both types for venture . WHERE is is on car? & Is iteasy to do or A another mechanic charge?
thanxs
A venture thats no fun! Hayward Ca.
A: OK, that clunking sound sounds like you have a bad stut, similar to front shocks but not. The strut replaced the old type upper ball joints and it is part of your suspension. Costs roughly $200 parts and labor give or take $50 plus an alignment.
The O2 sensor you are talking about is located in the exhaust manifold and they are offered in 1 or 2 wire connections . You wont know which you have until you locate the O2 sensor 1st.
Sounds like a money pit to me. Might be a good time to start weighing the idea of a replacement vehicle.
Sorry and good luck
Q: HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS IN A chevy venture 1997 van?
A: I assume you mean how does one change the spark plugs on the left bank - the side of the engine which faces the firewall. The answer lies in the "dog bone". The dog bone is one of the motor mounts, and it is located between the core support and the block, and it is about a foot long, silver and shaped kind of like a dog bone - hence the name. What is usually done is the motor mount bolt on the core support side is removed, and then while the engine is pried forward, the bolt is slipped into the hole on the dog bone that previously was not occupied. Once that is done, it will hold the engine far enough out that the entire left bank can be accessed.
