Q: The temperature guage on my 2001 Chevy Venture has stopped working. How can I fix it?
My son has replaced the sensor. That didn't help. The coolant is full so that is not the problem. The fans are running constantly and the check engine light is on.
A: Get your son to touch the wire from the sensor to the engine block while you watch the gauge. If the gauge is good, it should go to full scale (hot) when he touches the wire to ground. You don't have to have the engine running but must have the ignition switch to on. Also did he replace the right sensor? There is a sensor for the gauge and a sensor for the fans. Should be able to tell. If the fans come on when he touches the wire it's the wrong sensor. If the gauge doesn't work you can always buy a mechanical one at the auto parts store cheaper than replacing with the original style.
Q: On the 2001 Chevy Venture, what temp. does the engine need to be before the electric Radiator fans turn on?
I have a 2001 Chevrolet Venture with electric radiator fans that don't kick on until the engine is well above 300 degrees. The dealer say that's the way it's suppose to work. However, the thermostat is set to open at 195 degrees which would indicate to me that the fans should also start at 195 degrees.
Can anyone tell me what temperature the engine is suppose to be at for the fans to turn on?
A: The thermostat has very little to do with the actual engine temp, the cooling fans are controlled by the computer,it has a predetermined temp that the fans come on at,this cannot be changed. The system is pressurized to about 17to20lbs on the rad cap,the boiling point of plain water is 212degs F at sea level, for every one pound of pressure add 1deg F to the boiling point so add 17 to 20 degs to 212 so now the boiling point will be 229to 232 degsF so having 300degs F is excessive I would say it is overheating, but if you have not experienced loss of coolant through boil over I would not concern myself with the temperature on the gauge, gauges are not that accurate in the first place, and you have had it to the dealer so it is documented if you have a problem it is in their court to repair it.
Q: How do I put water in the water pump in my 2001 Chevy Venture?
car overheats to the max. after 5 to 10 concecutive km's driving. No warm air from the vents either.
A: You put 50/50 antifreeze and water in either the radiator or the radiator overflow bottle. If the radiator is empty there has to be a reason for it (a leak somewhere most likely). After you fill it up run the car and try to find the source of the leak.
Q: What is the P1401 code in a 2001 Chevy Venture for?
The check engine light came on, and I took it to Auto Zone as suggested by a friend. I tried to Google the code they gave me, but I couldn't find anything. I can't afford the mechanic's right now, and I need to now if it's safe to drive for a bit or if I should be taking the bus to school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I went back and looked at the paper they gave me at Auto Zone and the code is 1404. Sorry for the confusion.
A: ok it doesn t come up under the venture van, but the p1401 code is for manufacturer control auxiliary emissions control. i ve never seen this code come up for this van. so be sure this is the correct code. aftermarket scanners will some times give you a faulty code. take it the dealership and ask if someone could just read the code with gm s scan tool named the tech 2. it more than likely is a p1404 code which deals with the egr system, in which there is an updated calibration for the pcm which has to be preformed only at the dealership. good luck.

Q: How do i take out my entertainment system out of my 2001 chevy venture?
i have a video player and i would like to take it out and put in a dvd player does anyone have any ideas on how to take it out please help me...
i did research and it said that a machanic or a dealership would cost few hundred to remove it. =/
A: Get a mechanic to do it.
Q: Can someone suggest what type of shocks to use on my 2001 Chevy Venture?
My mini-van is making even me, the driver, car sick! I need good shocks so I don't feel like I'm in a small boat instead of a land vehicle...we live on a dirt road with lots of twists and turns. The van has about 78,000 miles on it and I don't think the shocks have ever been changed.
A: Why not have it YOUR way..I have had very good results with Rancho..the one's that YOU set for YOUR tastes.
Good Luck
Q: How do I change a 2001 chevy venture LS waterpump?
I have checked gauges and they work fine. we checked the water reseve and its fine.it must be the waterpump.10 pts for 1st and best answer.
thanx to BOB the mechanic for his input, but we had it figured out before the answer posted but thank you anyway and ill still give best to you!!!
A: this is a pretty easy water pump to do. first, remove the serpentine belt. next remove the four 10mm bolts that hold the water pump pulley to the water pump. once that is removed, you will see the six 8mm bolts that hold the water pump to the water pump housing. removed those and pull the water pump. clean your surface real good an install in the reverse procedure. this whole job should onlt take about an hour.
Q: how do I reset the PCM on a 2001 Chevy Venture?
car will not crank over at all, motor has been out, dealer says this may be problem. but won't give me the answer!
A: Your PCM has very little to do with your van unless you have a factory security device.
If you have an after-market device, that may cause a no-crank as well.
As for the dealer, they may seem a bit mercenary, BUT
1) They can't really tell you much unless they can actually put their hands on it.
2) They are there to make money. That is their only purpose. They make money by selling cars, and running a quality repair shop.
It seems like it wouldn't really hurt them to come through with a little information, but the guy you talked to on the phone knows only 1 thing---how to schedule. He knows nothing about mechanical or electrical devices, or for that matter hardly ANYTHING other than scheduling.
In that event, he has to go to a tech for the advice, and that tech is being compensated by wages, flat-rate split, and benefits. Which means all the phone time is loss time to everybody involved.
Sorry you are hung up here. It really sucks.
Q: On a 2001 Chevy Venture, how hard is it to change out the A/C condensor?
The shop wants over $1000 to replace it because it has a hole in it. I called around and can get the part for under $300. Are there special tools needed or a major dismantling required?
A: it is not very hard at all I just did one on a 2000 montana. You dont ned any special tools. you have to take out eh radiator and take off the engine mounts on the front. But was pretty easy to do.
Q: looking for a manual to recharge a/c in a 2001 chevy venture van?
i would like to have a picture of the place to recharge my a/c in my chevy venture wb van year 2001
A: I *think* that the inlet is the little fitting right behind the radiator. It is NOT the green inlet back by the brake fluid reservoir. That is part of the evap system for emission controls.
Q: Why would the wipers stop working on a 2001 Chevy Venture?
Here's what I know: Wipers were working fine, then in mid-wipe, they paused, and returned to their rest position, and just wouldn't go anymore. I checked the fuses, and nothing was blown. I could not check the relays in the fuse box. When I try to turn on the wipers, I can hear the wiper motor charge as if it is trying to turn them, but nothing happens, they do not budge. I can move the arms manually. Is there a relay or safety that needs to be reset? What else should I look for?
A: your wiper motor could be burned out, this is most likely cause. the buzzing sound and no movement leads me to believe this
replace the wiper motor and ask another question if that doesn't work
Q: Is there a way to disable the passenger side airbag in a 2001 Chevy Venture?
A: Unplug it. Remove the panel under the dash on the passenger. The plug is bright yellow. Just unplug it. You may want to disconnect the battery before doing this.
Q: Location of o2 sensor for a 2001 Chevy Venture?
one of the oxygen sensors went bad on my 2001 chevy venture (sensor 1 bank 1). does anymore know where it is located? and do I have to get at it fom the top of the engine or from under it??
A: By what you stated, the B1S1 oxygen sensor is located either on the left exhaust manifold, front one if you are looking under the hood, or on the connector pipe that runs the exhaust gas around to connect to the rear exhaust manifold at the down pipe. As I remember you can get at this one froom the under hood area if you get a bunch of the air cleaner stuff out of the way. Good luck.
Q: Has anyone ever replaced a front wheel bearing assembly on a 2001 Chevy Venture?
I know a little about cars but want to know if this is an easy project to tackle or if it should be left up to a pro.
A: replaceing the front wheel bearing in a front wheel drive car is not easy because you have to press thebearing out of the hub and even then you hope the hub does not get damged but if you replace the hub itis so much easier but more exspensive
