Whenever I turn on my a/c all I get is warm air. Can I recharge it and stop the leak ( if there is one ) or do I just need something else?

Q: Does the 2002 Chevy Venture have the child LATCH anchors?
I need to know if the Chevrolet Venture 2002 model year has the child seat Latch anchors? Thanks?
I can't find the information on used car sites.
A: No the 2002 Venture does not, General Motors did not start equiping all vehicle with child seat anchors until 2003, but you can go to your local Chevrolet dealer and have a set installed at no charge (reference TSB: 99-09-40-004a). but be sure to call ahead as most dealers do not stock the anchor package and will need to order them.
Q: Should I purchase a 2002 chevy venture with 196,000 miles on it? How many miles are to many for this automobil
A: All depends on how much you're paying for it, but for a six year old car, thats a lot of miles, I wouldn't buy ANY car with that many miles on it.
Q: 2002 chevy venture P0128 coolant temp to low, and P0171 bank 1 to lean. What's up with this?
I checked the thermostat, vacume lines, coolant temp sensor, MAF sensor. Any ideas ?
A: Change the t-stat and coolant temp sensor for the first code, for the second code, go to a shop that has a smoker to determine the leak, most likely is an intake gasket.
Q: when I turn off the windshield wipers on my 2002 chevy venture van they go to the up position instead of down?
they will go down at times if I squirt w-d40 on the motor assembly and components.
A: Your wiper motor is going bad. I think it has something to do with the gearing inside that it slips and doesn't park in the correct position.
Where is Click and Clack when you need them?!?
Q: how much should I expect to pay to fix leaking lower intake gasket on 2002 chevy venture?
Ive been quoted $781 and $650
A: Firstly, you are dealing with a very common problem on these engines, see them all the time. This is because the gasket material used was poorly designed and has been updated since then with better materials. To change this gasket, you must remove both the upper and lower intake manifolds. This calls for 6.6 hours of labor. Plus parts $60.00-120.00 depending on brand of gaskets. You looking at or around those numbers quoted. Id say closer to the 650.00.
Q: My 2002 chevy venture check engine light is on.?
I had it diagnosed at a local auto parts store and the printout said the system is too lean. Is there a way to adjust it or a way to program the computer without taking it to the dealer? Also it idles VERY rough. What can I do?
A: the code that indicates a "too lean" condition is set when the computer is no longer able to adjust for the lean condition by holding the fuel injectors open for longer injector pulses that add more fuel. Once the computer's self-adjusting capacity is exceeded the code is set.
The code indicates that unmetered air is entering the engine. The most likely cause is that a vacuum hose has come off and you have a large vacuum leak in the engine. That would cause your rough idle. So the first thing to do is to look around at all of the black vacuum lines to see if any are disconnected or split.
The second possibility is an Exhaust Gas Recircualtion Valve that is hung open. That would similarly induce a huge amount of air that bypasses the throttle plates r into the engine. The EGR failure is probably the most likely cause as they get jammed with carbon and can't close. Usually if the EGR is bad the idle will be very rough but the engine will smooth out if you raise the engien speed to over 2000 rpm.
The third possibility is a leaking intake manifold gasket that would again cause the engine to suck in air that does not go through the metering system. You can usually test for a leaking intake gasket by spraying a water mist or a carburetor cleaner on the intake manifolds were they meet the cylinder heads. If the engine smooths out then the gasket is bad. Be careful if you use carburetor cleaner because if you have a split or disconnected hose and you spray the carb cleaner around it could get sucked in and enrich the mixture to give you a 'false positive' test on the intake gasket.
If none of that makes sense, take it to a technician and have them diagnose it. From what you say, the problem is not with the computer; its doing its job in monitoring the system. There is a mechanical problem with the engine. There is also the chance that the fuel injectors are plugged with contaminated fuel but that's a long shot.
hope that helps
Q: 2002 chevy venture with bad head gasket?
My venture (3.4 L) was overheating and using coolant (alot) so I took it to the dealer to have it looked at. They said the head gasket was shot. They said it would be $2000 to fix. Is this something I can fix myself or is this something the pros should handle. I am pretty handy but this engine is a complete pain to work on. Why the h#%l did GM ever design such a P.O.S. ?
A: I'm a chevy technician and have had to do several of these myself. They are a serious pain. It's a semi-common problem with these. The head gasket "blows" at the #1 cylinder (back, far passenger side) and leaks coolant into the combustion chamber. Typically you relace both head gaskets at the same time. By doing this you can keep the exhaust manifolds bolted to the heads, as well as the crossover pipe between them, which means you pull both heads at the same time.
Unless the engine overheated, it isn't necessary to have the heads checked, and there is no fan clutch to remove.
$2K is actually about right, unfortunetly. It is an extremely laborious job, about 13-15 hours of labor. I dread having to do them, and I get paid to do so. I would highly recommend letting a professional do this. Sorry buddy.
Why did GM design this? I ask myself that every single time.
Q: 2002 chevy venture window jam?
Hi there, I have a 2002 chevy venture, the drive side window dosent work, when i push the button, but the passenger, and side mirror work when i push the button on the driver side, does any know why this so? Do i have to replace the motor for the driver side? or just need to replace new wiring?
Thank You
A: The most common problem is the motor brush's wear out but what you need to do is to remove the door panel and test that circuit with a test light or meter there are just two wires on the motor and it it easy to figure out whats not working from there if you what to do it your self you can ask your dealer to print out that part of the manual but the motors are riveted to the regulator and it may be more of a job then you would think about 1.5 hr job for a tech with the wright tools it could be just the switch that's why you need to test it. anyway you mite be better off having a mechanic repair it in the long run.good luck
Q: resetting my 2002 chevy venture?
I had to put a new battery in my 2002 Chevy Venture Van and now the security light comes on and wont let it run for more than 2 min. I have talked to 7 chevy dealer ships with 6 answers. HELP!!! How do you reset the computer???
A: On my 03 Impala to reset the computer is, place the ignition key to ON do not crank the engine, floor the throttle 3 times while the computer does the self test. It might have an engine screen that shows many things when you place the key. Is a self diagnostic, during that time floor the throttle 3 times. It will go to normal sequence. Try again and see if the self test is normal. Start the engine and see what it does, let it run idle for a while. like 10 mins or so. That is how my Impala resets.
See if the Owner's Manual says some about the warning lights. On this case I do not think that will say some, but it will say some on the section, jump starting a vehicle. Is worth a check on the book too.
Q: Where is the egr valve located in a 2002 chevy venture, automatic?
A: Right next to the ignition coils, its right behind the fuel feed lines ontop of the motor
Q: Heater problems with a 2002 Chevy Venture - Sometimes it blows cold air and sometimes it works fine?
When I am in start and stop conditions the heater blows cold air. When I am in a period of full acceleration the heater works fine. Another peculiar thing is that when the heater 'activates' or starts to blow hot air, I smell something through the vents for a brief period of time (less than a second or two).
Has anyone seen this and have any ideas what the problem may be?
A: You have a low coolant level caused by a leak. 2 most common problems are the intake gasket and the water pump. Have it checked out, if the intake is leaking, see the dealer, they extended the warranty on them to 70 k. Good luck
Q: My 2002 chevy venture oil engine light come on for 50 second?
A: did this happen right after an oil change? Sometimes oil change shops do not put oil into the filter thus there is no vacuum temporarily to draw in oil.
This results in no pressure. 50 seconds seems a bit long, check your dipstick and make sure there is enough oil
